Got A Question About Aircon Installation?
Do I need a refrigeration licence to install aircon, or can any electrician do it?
Connecting the power is electrical work, but handling the refrigerant gas is refrigeration work and legally needs an ARCtick licence. We hold both, so the whole job is done in-house and to standard. Our ARCtick licence is L195110.
Should I get a split system or ducted air conditioning?
It depends on how many rooms you want cooled and your budget. A split system is the most cost-effective way to cool one or two rooms; ducted air suits whole-home comfort with zoning so you are not cooling empty rooms. We will look at your place and give you an honest recommendation, not just sell you the bigger system.
Can you install an aircon unit I've already bought?
Yes. We do supply-and-install, or labour only if you have already got the unit. We will check it is the right size for the room first, because a bargain unit that is too small for the space is not much of a bargain once summer hits.
How much does aircon installation cost?
It depends on the system, the number of heads and how far the cable and pipe runs need to go, so we quote each job flat-fee after a look. The quote is the number you pay, and there is finance through Brighte or Zip if you would rather spread the cost.
How long does an aircon installation take?
Most single split-system installs are done in half a day. A multi-head or ducted system can take one to two days depending on the pipe run and the roof access. We give you a realistic timeframe with the quote, and we turn up when we say we will.
Will a new aircon overload my switchboard or wiring?
It can, especially in older homes still running ceramic fuses or a board that is already full. We check the switchboard and circuit capacity before we install, and if it needs a dedicated circuit or an upgrade we tell you upfront rather than overload it. Doing the electrical side properly is half the reason to use a team that holds both trades.
